When my students click on Materials the list of categories will not load. All they get is the spinning gear. The only way we have found to fix it is to save the file, exit Sketchup, log back in and open the file they were working on again. When it’s done loading, clicking on Materials now works and the list of categories shows up.
My student are using SketchUp for Schools with a G Suite account.
Thanks for the post @Tom25 and sorry to hear you have a bug for us to work on. If you can share some additional information like what browser you and your students are running and maybe some hardware information that might help us narrow down the cause of the issue as we look into it.
In the meantime, I am pleased to hear that you have a workaround.
