Mapping PBR Files to SU Material Editing

Hello:

I understand how to import PBR files into SketchUp. What I’d like to know is how to map the files themselves to the editor settings. The editor has Metalness, Roughness, Normal and Ambient Occlusion. But when I download the maps they have DIFF, DISPL, NORMAL and SPEC in their filenames.

Does anyone know how to map these names into the editor? NORMAL obviously maps into the Normal map, but what about the others?

Thanks.

DIFF - Diffuse, is the main colour texture.
That is the standard sketchup texture.

You can’t use Displacement or Specular maps in SketchUp

For metalness it should either either : 0 for not made of metal or 1 for it’s made of metal. very simple.

Given you don’t have a roughness map in this package, it may be that the files are setup in a more old fashioned way you could try loading the specular map into the roughness slot, but it may actually be the inverse of how it should be, so you’d need to manually invert it in an image editor.

if the specular file is simple a sold colour, then you don’t need to use it at all.

Thanks for the quick reply and information. Considering that I got the maps from a website that specifically touts itself as providing SketchUp Textures I was surprised that their file-naming conventions weren’t very intuitive.

Thanks again.
