Make Group - is this a glitch?

I encountered a peculiar behavior with “Make Group”. It is the same with " Make Component".
The elements change position when grouped.

Any ideas why would this happen? Or anybody else have experience this.

It would help to see the model prior to Make Group.

I can only send a very small part of the model…

You have a lot of nesting and scaled groups. If you try to group the geometry in a scaled group it will tend to move relative to the original group axis.
One correctly sized component could be quickly arrayed to replace all the nested groups.

The model was modified quite a few times. I inherited it, it started as a concept model. I guess now I can simplify, but as I only need it for making drawings out of it, I try no to modify it to much - as time is precious . I ma setting it tup for Layout.

But thanks…I never experienced this before…This is why I was sharing it…

There are not only scaled groups, but also skewed groups. These are created when you have rotated groups from within another group, and you scale the “outer” group.
(The skew alco can be reset, like a scale.)
So don’t let your colleague do this kind of “outer scaling” (unless that’s the goal), because these produce interesting behaviours, as you’ve experienced… :innocent:

Well. In concepting phase sometimes you do whatever you need to for the effect. I should probably re-model the bits which needed to be remodeled…

Making good models should be the goal whether you are building a house to live in or part of a house to shoot a movie in front of.

Or ‘there is always time to do it twice but never time to do it right’.
