We’re a company providing an online collaborative 2d CAD tool for architecture, construction and real estate called Rayon.design.
A lot of our users use Rayon (for their 2d drawings) in conjunction with Sketchup (for their 3d models). To make it easier for them, we’d like to create a Sketchup extension that would enable them to directly import into SketchUp the geometry of their Rayon drawings and vice-versa export into Rayon the plans, elevations or sections of their SketchUp 3d model.
We’re looking to find somebody to build this extension with us. If anyone is interested, we offer competitive compensation, please reach out !
You can export DWG and DXF files - these can already be imported into SketchUp [and/or Layout]
Your import possibilities are not explained in your video clip.
A SKP importer would be a task and a half, but if you can import DWG or DXF files, then these formats are easily exported from SketchUp.
So I don’t understand what you want/need…
We do indeed import and export .dxf, .dwg files and this is how most of our users go back and forth between Rayon and Sketchup.
Our goal with this extension is to go one step further, because in Rayon users don’t just draw lines but also “semantic” objects such as walls, slabs, openings, furniture models etc. and it would be fairly easy to generate a first rough 3d model from these objects inside Sketchup, which would save a lot of time to our users. Similarly, it would be nice to have some “sync” capabilities between a Sketchup 3d model and sections, elevations, or top view plans that would be generated automatically in Rayon. I hope this clarifies our objective.
