I’m trying to figure out how to make the locking ridges as shown in the photo below. So far, no luck. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks!
Should be fairly straightforward to model. Depends on the version of SketchUp you are using. Do you have dimensions for this thing? What version of SketchUp? Please complete your profile.
Thanks for the reply. Right now, I’m thinking that the locking mechanism will be 100mm in diameter. I’m using SketchUp Pro 2020.
I would start by using a 50mm radius circle with the same number of segments as teeth. Draw a circle for the inner end of the teeth, too. Then use those as guides for drawing a tooth. Triangles at the ends, connected with edges to creat the shape of the tooth. Rotate/Copy the tooth geometry to make the rest of the teeth.
If this was something I might need more than once I’d probably model this as a cutter and save it as a component so I could use it with Eneroth Solid Tools to trim the other models. I’d save the component in a local collection for later use. Probably make the teeth longer so I could use the component on smaller objects, too.
Great…thanks! Making the number of segments of the circle equal the number of teeth and the inner circle were the key steps I missed.
