I have SU pro 2018 and in LO I made my own title block with a curved corner border similar to the classic clear print drafting sheets of yesterday. I locked it (it turns red) However, when I try to open the blue view port to change scale etc. a window frequently pops up wanting to know if I want to unlock the border. Is there a way to stop this behavior? It frequently takes many clicks in various locations close to the blue viewport I want to edit, before it opens, which is annoying. Perhaps I need to save it as a template?
A viewport is a view of a SketchUp model. Changing the scale for the viewport should not have any connection with your titleblock border. Nor should dragging the edges of the viewport. If you are selecting both the viewport and the locked titleblock border and trying to resize them together, you should expect that message, though. Don’t select the titleblock border and you won’t get the message.
Better than locking the titleblock border, leave it unlocked but put it on a layer near the bottom of the Layers list and lock the layer. Then you won’t be able to select the it when you select something else to resize it.
If you’re going to the work of creating a custom titleblock with borders and such and you’ll use it more than once, you certainly should be creating a template. Still you should be putting the title block content on it’s own layer(s) separate from the project specific content you’ll add such as viewports, dimensions, and annotations. Those things should all have their own layers, too.
Humm. I rarely use layers. I 'll have to watch some videos, read stuff, to see how to go about doing that.
Can I save the title block / border to a layer now, or wait till the project is done?
I guess I wasn’t clear. I import a model - it comes up as some weird scale. I select 1/2" and it saves it as 1/4" Then I resize it a second time to get the right scale. I have no idea why it does that. Is that normal? pro 2018
There was previously a bug using this context menu that we fixed a few years ago. I believe it was fixed in the 2021.1 version of LayOut.
The issue could be seen with any scale item listed after the Current Scale item. A work around (other than upgrading to the latest version of LayOut!) is as you mentioned, to pick any scale and then pick the scale you want.
