I’ve been using the Add Location/Maps feature in SketchUp for a long time, and this is the first time I’ve encountered an issue where the map image appears blank when rendered. What’s strange is that my older SketchUp files that use similar map images still display and render correctly.
Has anyone experienced the same problem or knows what might be causing it? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
does the map show normally in sketchup with shaded with textures on, or is it blank there too? i’d start by narrowing that down before changing the material. which sketchup and vray versions are you using?
Curiously, when I unlocked the object and applied a color to the 3D building, rerendering in Vray shows the materials from the geolocation. Not sure why Vray doesn’t recognize the geolocation materials but they didn’t show up in the Asset Editor until I added the color to the building.
Simple way round it is to select one of the map materials, choose edit, then tick and untick “colorise”
That creates material files that v-Ray can see and they kick in immediately
Yes, the map appears normal in SketchUp. I didn’t notice anything unusual until I rendered the scene.
I’m using V-Ray 7.3, which I updated just last week. Since the issue only shows up during rendering and not in the SketchUp viewport, I’m wondering if it could be related to the recent V-Ray update or the way the map texture is being processed.
Thanks for your help and for sharing the workaround. I’ll give it a try and see if it resolves the issue. I appreciate you taking the time to assist me. Thank you!
thanks for checking and confirming the versions. i’d try Elmtec-Adam’s tick-and-untick colorise workaround first, since DaveR reproduced the same thing too. that should help narrow it down, even if it doesn’t tell us yet whether the update caused it.
