They are a different company, Revit is developed by, Autodesk (), and sketchup by Trimble, the Revit importer Plugin is developed by sketchup, it’s like the dwg or pdf importers from Simlab, they have nothing to do with Autodesk(), Adobe() or Trimble but they developed those plug-ins for sketchup.
thanks, I found Revit on other sites in the market that was another architectural software and assuume it was an alternative to Sketchup.

It is an alternative to sketchup, but both softwares can complement each other as well. Usually Revit users go to sketchup for visualization, cause the 3DWH has a lot of assets and there are more rendering engines for sketchup than for Revit. The same happens with Archicad users.
yes, I thought that Sketchup was the more preferred because of the comprehensive legends in the toolbar. It had confused me a little when seeing this in the installation page along with “Studio” Sketchup is a lot better than everything else in the Architectural industry so far though, and much more economical
