Quick thought, perhaps redundant but what about having the marker name appear in the search bar if an object is clicked on? I see that the check mark appears to indicate a object w/ a marker has been activated but perhaps something like the native tag indicator dialogue? Sometimes I miss the check mark if I have a lot of markers etc…

That works, altho I was thinking of a small window on the main interface that shows the marker name when the object is clicked on or shows “unmarked” if it doesn’t have one yet. Something that is simple and positive info oriented instead of looking for a checkmark to show up or not. Also, it keeps a second window closed (VM info) until I need it. Just a thought for down the road. I’ve gotten used to clicking on an object and checking the name to see if I’ve forgotten to add it to a marker/ tag…
I’m currently working on a beta version of the updates; some new features have been added, and, for example, you can minimize both main windows very quickly without having to close them. Check out the video, and of course, you can customize VMinfo through the settings to choose what you want to display—so it can really be just a tiny window, purely for markers and tags, for example.
Got it. I’ll try these methods out. Right now I’m in heavy iteration mode (getting the rocking chair right!) and if I’ve changed markers a lot I just click and look at the title to see if I’ve missed something. I was thinking it would be a click saving feature ie: the marker name appears in the search bar of the main window and disappears once you click off or search etc and it would keep an extra window closed. I typically don’t have the windows open if I’m in modelling mode and then I stop and collate everything to make sure I’m current. Perhaps some habit retraining on my part.
That’s the beauty of Ferols’ tool. You can make a marker for every version ID and quickly show or hide exactly what you need. You can make a bulk marker for leg, and specific markers for version 1,2,3. then you can show one or more at once to see changes in place. I use x-ray and color by layer for this. Nice work on the chair design by the way.

I’m thinking in a very narrow scenario:
I’ve got a bunch of objects, I draw for 15-20 minutes and then go back (if I haven’t already) and dump objects into Markers, States, Filters etc. However, in the course of that mayhem, I’ll hide things already marked etc but find that something disappeared that shouldn’t have or vice versa and the way I check is to click on the item and check to see what title shows up in the tag box up in my toolbars. If it’s in the wrong one (leg marked as a slat etc) I can see the “wrong” title or it’ll say “untagged” and I know that’s why it’s not disappearing when I click the eye icon.
All I’m suggesting is that if, when an object was clicked and turns blue, it’s marker title shows up in the search bar (if that saved space or was “easy”) or a similar unobtrusive spot on the main interface in the event that I’m not using the VM Info etc. I know I can put open/ close of the main extension and the VM Info as hotkeys/ shortcuts but this format is the way I can do a quick check of where my object is tagged without opening another box.
It seems to be an intuitive way to quickly check what I’ve done with a feature that exists natively but there isn’t an exact parallel in the Extension so far. Not a deal breaker and as I say, something that I can re train myself on, however it’s one of those native features I’ve come to rely on for checking work…
I’d compare it to the way my eye goes instinctively to the dimensions dialogue box to type a line length, my eye goes instinctively to the “tag title” box (in the upper left of my tool trays) when I click and object to see if I’ve misplaced it or it’s still untagged for some reason.
Like you I am a Sketchup user since 2007. And from almost the beginning felt the need for multitagging as a replacement for the ever more complex nesting of entities required in order to for instance be able to switch between composite alternatives in my models (same reason why I’d like to see birth of native tags groups that can be controlled as radio buttons). I would very much like to join your test and provide feedback.
yes Wyatt. I find Ferol’s tool better for this than the native ones. As you click an object you see the check mark appear for the Marker it is associated with. And if its the wrong one, merely click the correct one and its fixed in one easy step. And if it is not assigned, click the Marker you want it on, all one click away. With the native you need to click the drop down to get to the correct tag. With lots of markers there may be scrolling, but that would be the same for extension or native. At least with Ferol’s I feel that result seems quicker to achieve. And if you only need to do it occasionally you can keep it minimized in between needs. One trick I use is Hide all the markers using folders (marker group) and only turn on the one I need to “fix” and I can see what is supposed to be there. You do need to uncheck the wrong one and check the correct one, but I feel visually this is a superior method than with native tools: I have a group called Instance (it coincides with the Component Instance names) I click the eye for the group then click back on a single item

More VM Info settings and Overlay in Visibility Manager Beta 33
VM Info has many more settings and is much more customizable, and starting with version 2023, you can enable the overlay view directly in the main window. You can also adjust its size and position; see the short video below for more details:
This is great Ferol. The overlay is perfect for minimum space and and max info. And being able to minimize the pallet is helpful. I keep the tool buttons active in the toolbar so I can turn the pallets on or off, but I like the minimize feature. Lets me keep everything where I like it and organized.

I’m currently using a newer version myself - I’ve integrated a better browser for Materials and a better browser for Components to suit my needs. With highly customizable previews and quick search.
Once it’s all worked out, I’ll send out information about the new version.
