Hi everybody
Just wondering if anybody knows of a plugin that can add additional line styles to those currently available for Tagged Groups/Components, or whether it would be possible to create one?

Currently there is no way to add new LineStyle via Ruby API, so there is no Extension/Plugin for it.
Thanks dezmo
I thought if anybody could do it - you would be the man
HoweverâŚ
( I have no idea how/what it is doing⌠)
( Edit: You can read it here: DPLineStyler | Dave PE)
Thanks very much
I will experiment when I get home - do you think it can make a line almost invisible. A bit like the current dotted line but with far far fewer dots?
I really donât know because Iâve never tried it. But based on the description, it might be possibleâŚ
In Layout you can edit the line style of a tag. Change color as an example making a solid line light gray that would look almost invisible. This wont help in the model but your docs can look like you want.
Thanks Ivan.
This particular requirement doesnât involve Layout, itâs rather unusual as it involves making the SketchUp line style as close to invisible as possible. This is to maximise the visibility of whatever it is (in this case a point cloud) that lies behind the line.
I think the dotted line style is my best current option although I had hoped to create a dotted line with fewer dots.
Ive had a good look at this plugin and itâs really clever, but unfortunately it cannot do what I want. It can make a line almost invisible against a clear background but the line would still be visible across an image.
The lines in question are the clipping box around a Point Cloud. I often take screenshots including the SketchUp model, because the Point Cloud image itself doesnât export to Layout. Ideally, I want to make the clipping box disappear but thats not possible. The only thing I can do is change the line-style for the clipping box Tag. The dotted line is my best option but its still visible so I hoped to use one with less dots.
You can see the dotted lines are almost invisible but they are still there:
Using Tag. Or you can just put 8 guide points in corners instead of edges and faces.
Using Profile Builder. You can use âCopy Along Pathâ instead.
Thanks @mihai.s
I use the Undet plugin and can only change the clipping box line style.
I cannot turn the clipping box off or make it disappear.
If the lines are geometry and part of a component or group is there a reason you do not edit the group / component and select the lines and then âhideâ them?
I do this often when using semi transparent masks in SKP to isolate parts of my model (especially when using section cuts, etc.).
The lines are the clipping box for a point cloud and the clipping box cannot be hidden. The only control over its visibility is its Tags line style.
After adding the information about Undet, I found that since 2017 they have not been able to add that feature. Even the advice to write them wouldnât be much use probably.
From 2017 SketchUp has a new Graphics Pipeline 2.0, and after this update, there is no option to disable the âclipping boxâ frame. But there is a solution to make it less visible:
Yes - thatâs spot on @mihai.s
but if there was a way to apply a less visible line style to the clipping box tag than the dotted line, then all would be good
I guess I donât understand then⌠if itâs geometry that can be assigned to a tag which can affect the characteristics of the geometry (dashed, dotted, etc) why can it be hidden?
The Group UndetEXT which is the clipping box is hard coded into the plugin and cannot be hidden.
Hiding it or unlocking it using Entity Info has no effect:
