Leader text consistency?

When I add a whole series of leader text, I like to have the angle and horizontal length of the leader to be identical for visual consistency.
Is there a way to lock this in so that the leader angle will snap or lock to 30º?
Copy/pasting the leader and editing the text doesn’t work great, because the arrow is linked to the model. I also use a simple line “guide” that I copy and paste, but then the leader is linked to the line instead of the underlying model, and it’s an extra step.

Instead of copying and pasting the labels, use Move/Copy and grab the angled part of the leader to move the copy. You can make a linear array of labels to get a bunch in a row.

You can also align text and align the corners of the leaders if needed.
Align

Use Grid Snapping to aid in alignment, too.

I usually inference off of an existing label.

Thanks! I didn’t realize the behavior was different for Move/Copy based on where I click on the label. If you click on the text, the anchor for the arrow stays locked, and your new leader text is pointing the same place as the original.

This still ends up breaking the link between the leader text and the SU model - but I think that’s a reasonable trade off as most of the time I am typing in my own text anyway.

This works for horizontal or vertical alignment of the text, but inference doesn’t work to set the angle of the leader, right?

Yes. It’s handy if you want more than one label pointing at the same spot.

If you’re typing your own text then yeah, it won’t matter. It may not always break the link but if it does, simply moving the arrow end of the leader and reanchoring it will work to reattach it if you are using auto text for labels.

Also remember when placing labels that you can use inferencing.

Hi @dansdd

I use inferencing for setting both the alignment and the angle of the leader.

Hope this helps :+1:
