Layout inserts blur

Hi all,

I’ve been trying to upload a drawing stamp for my construction drawing. I’ve tried inserting it as a PDF, JPEG and PNG but when it lands in layout it’s blur- even more so if I try to adjust the size. I thought it was the stamp I made so I uploaded one that I know has worked previously and again it came in blur. Is there something I’m missing?

Images will show at a lower resolution in LayOut than they will in the PDF export. Try exporting a PDF with the image to compare.

Are you still using SketchUp/LayOut 2022 as your profile shows?

What you show in your screenshot really would look better as text and lines drawn in LayOut than a raster image anyway.

Here’s an example of an inserted raster logo in LayOut.

And in the PDF.

To elaborate on Dave, check that your output resolution is set to High.

I think the OP might be talking about something else, and I’m seeing something very similar. It’s not an issue of an exported PDF, but what an image copied from a PDF looks like when it is pasted into Layout.

I’ve been using SketchUp for over 10 years and this only started happening to me when I upgraded to the latest version.

When I copy from a PDF and paste into Layout, the pasted version is significantly larger than the original. This typically happened in previous versions and, in and of itself, was not a problem.

But when I shrink the image to fit to its actual size, I lose a lot of resolution. This never used to happen with earlier versions. In fact, text now becomes almost unreadable. The pasted version is typically larger than the page, so I have no choice but to shrink it. I am careful to copy the PDF only when I’m viewing it a full size.

This is a major problem for me as I use SketchUp and Layout professionally and often have to copy and past PDFs or parts of PDFs into Layout.

Wondering if maybe I’m doing something wrong with the newer version and I need to learn a new way to copy and paste.
