Issues Exporting PNGs From Layout

Hello All,

I am writing to see if anyone has encountered this issue. I am attempting to export a file in both PDF and (preferably) PNG formats. My issue is that the PNG, JPEG, and PDF look entirely different. The PDF looks like exactly what I had in mind, but the PNG and JPEG look different.

Just a few notes about the files I have uploaded :

  • The resolution is down for the images so as not to slow down uploading speed for the forum. I have the exact same issue when the ppi is higher.

I appreciate whatever help anyone can offer, and I would love to hear if other users are encountering this issue! I suspect other users may have this issue, so please let me know if you have any recommendations on how to re-title this ask to be more searchable for other users. I hope we can fix this together

come on, you want us to help you, give us something.

I’ll assume you’re using sketchup 2024, the "most recent’.
but… your os… are we talking mac or pc ? because there are known issue on both, and knowing can help us narrow it.

in your first message, you didn’t leave time for the PDF to upload.
might as well upload the layout file, here or through wetransfer.

I can’t see any problems with your image. It’s too small to tell for sure. The only think I can see for sure is the numbers 2 and 6 in the squares are under the images or viewports, whatever they are.

As @ateliernab asked, put the correct information in your forum profile and share the .layout file so we can see what you’ve done.

Your PDF uses Hybrid rendering, so probably you have Output Override turned on. I wonder if your Output Resolution is not set to High. The raster image you attached is probably in the JPG format as it shows the typical artifacts that appear when JPEG compression is used on lines, text or flat colour surfaces.
For best raster image output set your Output Resolution to High and use the PNG file format.

Thanks! This helped me get a much better quality photo. I eventually figured out that the issue was the shadows projecting on to a transparent background. Even though the background was off, the shadows were still projecting onto the background! Thank you for your help!
