Layout 2025 not responding

I have created some floor plans and elevations in a sketchup file using a DWG file. After exporting to a layout 2025 file template that has been supplied by another designer it’s taking a long time to update plans and in some viewports I cannot adjust the scale. I have never had this happen before. I have tried keeping the rendering in hybrid but it doesn’t make a difference. Would anybody be willing to look at my files to see what may be happening.
Thanks
Megan

This is usually an indication of model bloat, a large number of faces and edges for the application to process.

Scale cannot be set of the camera in the view is set to perspective. Only parallel views can be to scale.

Share your SketchUp model and LayOut file for more informed advice. Note that this is a public forum before revealing sensitive information.

Thanks Anssi
The sketchup file that I am working with is no larger than what I usually use. I am working with 2d elevations at the moment and it only seems to be some viewports that the scale is not working. I think it’s a loading issue with my layout file. The spinning wheel appears every time I press a button in layout and then the application is not responding. I appreciate your advice. Unfortunately it is a project for another designer so I can’t share publicly. Thanks Megan

If you can’t make it public you will have to send it to someone via private message for them to look at it..

BTW, don’t send it to me. I have no experience with Layout!

If you want to share it provately I would be willing to take a look. You can send a private message with a link to the file by clicking on my name and then “Message”.

Thanks Dave. I will send you the file.

I’m looking at your files now. There’s quite a bit to unpack. The first thing is that you’ve modified the Camera property for every single viewport in the LO file. This means changes to the camera in the scenes in the SketchUp model will not update in LayOut. This would create the impression that LayOut isn’t responding when you update the reference. It also creates the possibility for a lot of unneccesary work if the viewports get reset.

You also have the viewports set to Hybrid rendering which is not needed. Simple Raster or Vector rendering will do and be faster.

In the SketchUp model I see that you have the Camera set to Perspective for all of the scenes. You should set it to Parallel Projection for the scenes. Then you won’t have to override the Camera propeties in LayOut.

I also note that you are not using tags correctly and you have a lot of ungrouped geometry. Another thing I note is that you have parts of your model spread out over a very large area which can create graphical issues.

Try reseeting the Camera for each of the viewports and set up your scenes correctly with the camera set to Parallel Projection. Then update the reference and see if LayOut responds.

More in a reply to your PM.

Thank you so much.

I will adjust my files as per your advice.

I really appreciate your help.

I’ll let you know how I go.

Thanks

Megan
