Layers and "sublayers"

I have several groups and several layers and sublayers.

By “sublayers” I mean that that I can hide a layer with one click and several layers are hidden. I can also unhide the parent layer and then hide one or more child layers.

I have been away from SU for a while and now forget how to set that uo.

Can anyone help, please?

In case my verbage isn’t clear, this is what I have:

it all about groups and assignment to layers…

for example:

all timbers can be grouped and assigned to timber layer…

edit timber group and make a new group for joists, assign that to a joist layer…

etc…
