OK - I see the difference - setting the transition to Zero would do the same thing, by then you’d have to set it back. Thanks for the clarification,Box.

And lets you assign the operation to a shortcut key (through menu Window > Preferences > Shortcuts > View/Toggle Scene Transition (assign to a key) to toggle transition time off /on
