I’m trying out Double-Cut for doing some windows and doors in a house model I’m building for myself. I’m using Sketchup-pro 2024. I have some weird issues that don’t seem right.
The components that I create that are somehow connected to double-cut (presumeably because they are “glue-to, any surface”) no longer move with the move tool on their axes, when the direction is locked. This is usually the blue axis, buy not always.
I’ve tried disabling/renabling the extension via the Extension Manager. This seems to not work, I cannot get the extension to stay re-enabled.
I’ve watched many videos, that seem to make it appear that this extension should to what I want as far as allowing me to place easily place windows and doors, cutting the walls and adjust them within my model, so that I can visualize it.
It does not seem to work as easy as the videos make it look.
I’m working with a very simple test model with just a 5.5 inch thick wall defined as a group, and a couple of simple component windows.
It appears that double-cut, if installed and active will alter the way all the components in the model that are glue-to will behave.
Is there a simple guide that explains this? I have looked on mind-sight’s web site and don’t find any such thing easily. Their web site and its forum appear to lack what I’m looking for. Maybe I’m just missing it.
Double-cut appears to have the function that is appropriate for my level of work. It’s permanent license cost is reasonable. The other extension Flex-Tools appears to be more robust but is significantly more expensive and recurring in cost. An overkill for my purposes.
Anyone with any insight or ability to help with this, please jump in. Maybe the developers/support team at Mind-Sight can jump in on this.
