Is undo (alt-backspace) limited in layout

Is undo functionality in layout somehow limited? This program is certainly not intuitive in the way that it follows the sketchup way of things. I find myself needing to undo actions, but it wont undo them. This seems most troublesome when making changes to what is in a view port, moving and scaling my scene around to get what I need on the printed page to take into the shop.

I find that my layout dimensions will come unhooked from the actual drawing and then I can’t go back. I have to revert to a previously saved version or redo my work.

undo = command z on a Mac. command -shift -z = redo
