I’m looking into learning Trimble Creator, and when logged in I see a beta release announcement banner… from 2023?
Is this an abandoned project?

This is just a looooooong beta, I guess.
There are now two “ongoing” projects to bring parametric properties to SketchUp objects. Neither has been officially “abandoned” but neither has received substantial updates since release either. Dynamic Components were released with SketchUp version 4 as an extension and it remains as such, and now Live Components.
Huh, ok. So nothing official but no activity from Trimble on Live Components.
No, DC was released from version 7, since dictionaries were added to entities since version 6 to Ruby script API.
Good luck : )
Hi Dan,
Trimble Creator is still in active use building Live Components. The SketchUp content library was just extended with 100’s of Live Components made using Trimble Creator: 3D Warehouse
There is a link the the Trimble Creator graph for each model on that page if you want to see how they were made.
That said, Trimble Creator is still rough around the edges and has been in beta a while. We will be looking at ways to make it more usable as soon as possible.
Well, there is! E.g. If you go to web-app : https://app.sketchup.com/app and click on the About at the bottom left corner, you can read this:
Could you please focus on making the UI more touch friendly?
Using live components in SketchUp for iPad is frustrating, and Trimble Creator isn’t usable through the iPad browser.
Hi Marco,
Unfortunately, Trimble Creator is a while away from touch support. That said we want Live Components usability to improve.
What are the changes you would like to see using Live Components in iPad?
Hope months and not years
At first glance a more consistent UI would be appreciated:
I can’t promise timelines, but I share similar hopes!
That is great feedback for the UX on iPad, I’ll pass it on for a future consistency pass.
