Is the GeForce RTX 4070 Good for 3D Modeling and Architecture?

I am considering the GeForce RTX 4070 Graphics Card for a workstation that will primarily be used for SketchUp and other 3D modeling tasks related to residential architecture. Has anyone used this card for similar workflows? How does it perform in real-world usage compared to workstation GPUs like the RTX A2000? Any feedback would be helpful!

Seems to think that yes, it’s a superior GPU.
Oh wait…

Yes it’s a pretty good one, and it used to be a good bang for the buck, I’m not aware of prices right now.

I removed the link. The question is a reasonable one, but the link triggered a spam response. It should be ok now.

I used workstation GPUs for years, older ones. My last Xeon/Quadro workstation could not keep up with my gaming/GTX setup I had at the house. This is when I stopped wasting $$ on them. All of my CAD/3D programs run without issue on “gaming” hardware, Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp and so on. Current box is a Dell XPS 8950. I’ve had it 3 years with zero issues. I am sure that there are reasons to use workstation hardware but normal CAD/3D is not of them.

I let the IT departments of large companies buy the new “workstation” laptops but I think that the reburbished versions available are often quite good value.

I’ve bought refurb stuff for home before and they’ve been fine. My current home box is just my old one from work. We are allowed to WFH at times but I have a desktop at work so I asked to take my old box home for use. It’s an 8th gen i7 based Dell Precision with an RTX 2080 and still running Win10.
