Im using windows, this one pops out
It’s not possible on Windows
Thank you Bro. Please give me an advice how to insert or import? dwg file to layout. Im currently working on it. Is it possible that line colors from dwg can seen to layout?
I don’t know if there is any difference between 2024 and 2023 – you profile says 2023.
I’m assuming the following is for the latest version – 2024…
https://help.sketchup.com/en/layout/importing-cad-data-layout
when I inserted the dwg file as Paper Space, it cant detect the drawings
I check the import model viewport as sketchup model. this is what came out. no text
We are off topic (now talking about DWG rather than PDF)
I don’t often import DWG into Layout and when I do, it’s only for linework.
Best if you start a new thread or change the title of this thread so that others who have more experience can help you…
(and my Layout 2024 is currently crashing trying to import a DWG)
Its not clear what your trying to do. A PDF editor can convert the PDF to an image (jpeg, gif, png) that file can be imported into Layout. If you after the DXF for the drawing content thats different. If your trying to create a Title Block in Layout its actually easier to draw it in Layout. There are Youtube videos that can guide you and teach you about auto text setting up layers that appear on every page things like that can be saved into a template for other projects. Personally I find imported dxf are often more work to clean up than drawing from scratch. You can import an image or the DXF into Sketchup and create the geometry then send the Sketchup file to Layout.
Yes. Unless I’m misunderstanding, I’m surprised this doesn’t work on a PC…?
I’m on a iMac, (Sonoma) using SketchUp Pro with Layout 24.0.554
Go File > Insert and select a pdf file.
It opens easily for me, no problem, and it can be resized as required using the toggles.
It’s down to a difference in the Mac and Windows operating systems.
Thanks Dave.
Windows will catch up one day
Probably but don’t hold your breath.
On Mac you can. On our old (12+ years ago) forums, I posted a process for Windows of basically of downloading ghostscript and GIMP, converting to png, and inserting.

A real PDF importer would probably be useful for both PC and Mac, with the ability to explode the import to get editable graphics and text. I understand the importer in Mac creates a raster image. Many CAD and graphics applications have this feature.
