iPad Scan to Design model not aligned with scan?

The sketchup design walls in my scans do not align with the scan. They seem to be off based on how off axis the blue scan grid is, but there also doesn’t seem to be any specific way to accurately align that grid to the space.

The guide suggests starting looking at a corner, which would always make the grid off axis. Am I missing something?

@me2 Thanks for the feedback and for the question regarding the suggestions that are offered in the guide.

Definitely a bit of a catch22 involved, to your point.

The guidance that’s offered, about starting at a corner of the room (meaning, where 2 walls come together (not the other type of corner you crossed out, where 3 surfaces come together), will assist in creating slightly better results for the textured mesh scan – but this approach can also lead to the textured mesh and simplified room models being misaligned.

We’ve found that starting the scan with your iPad positioned perpendicular to one of the walls in the room will result in the 2 representations of the room being more closely aligned.
