Inverse Gamma for HDRI with Vray

Hi! First time posting but been using Sketchup for years.

I’m trying to sharpen my shadows in my HDRI and keep reading about adjusting the Inverse Gamma settings but cannot find them in my Vray settings panels!

I’m rendering a makeup product and loving the lighting detail of this studio HDI Brown Photostudio 02 HDRI • Poly Haven

But it’s giving me very soft shadows. I could re-render with a spot light to get sharp shadows and photoshop them together but just wondering if this Inverse Gamma tool is real!?

Thank you so much for any help.

I don’t think that inversing the gamma would help with that, nor is that the intention of that type of option.

The reason the shadows are soft is because an HDRI is an image based light - your model is being lit from every direction, it will always be soft.

You best bet for sharper shadows is to use a direct light , like the point light
