Introducing Curic Publish: interactive SketchUp presentations made easy

I’m excited to share Curic Publish, a new SketchUp extension that turns a SketchUp model and its LayOut or PDF drawings into an interactive web presentation that is easy to share.

There is something genuinely exciting about seeing a 2D drawing come alive in 3D. Open a sheet, move into its connected model view, and continue exploring without losing the story the drawing was meant to tell. Curic Publish keeps the model and documentation together, so a presentation feels less like a collection of separate files and more like one connected design experience.

When drawings become a way into the model

Sections should reveal how a project is built, not simply hide half of it. Curic Publish brings full section hatches from Curic Section into the published model, helping walls, slabs, structure, and materials remain readable as you move through the design.

Look inside the design

If you enjoy the way Curic Sun makes sunlight easy to understand, that experience can now become part of the presentation. Move through time and date, follow the sun path, and let clients explore daylight in a direct and intuitive way.

The published model stays useful at every scale. BIM object information lives directly on the objects. The full Tags and Outliner hierarchy keeps complex models understandable, while object isolation lets you focus on one part of the design without visual noise. On an iPhone or iPad, you can open the presentation, inspect the model, and take accurate measurements wherever you are.

Curic Publish exports your project as one self-contained HTML file that is easy to share. Recipients can explore the SketchUp model and its linked LayOut drawings directly in a browser, without installing SketchUp or another app. It is a simple way to share the design itself, not just screenshots of it.

This looks really good, please share an easy overview presentation. Some the features look really good for a SketchUp use but too detailed for a client, is there a mode for simple presentation only?

You’ve seriously broken the back on presentation with this plugin!

We’re looking for something that isn’t as clunky as Trimble Connect to really function for client-side viewing, but as @joshua_studiojdb suggests, this is brilliant for consultant / client collaboration, but is a bit too complex for client-only viewing! The same has to be said here about Trimble Connect!

Here are my thoughts on what may make for a client-side viewer:

Tag Management Supression:
As many SketchUp users may have guiding information set to hidden tags, suppressing tag management may be a worthwhile option.

Scene Export Manager:
Similarly scenes may be setup by the user for guiding or documentation purposes, and these scenes may or may not be relevant to or can be chosen not to be available to the client.

Scene Locking:
There are likely scenes the user may want locked. The ability to lock scenes, ie: they can’t be orbited, would also be a cool addition.

This is mega bad ass but to me it’s most interesting how it manages this much fidelity and functionality on (roughly) only 20% of the data of the skp and layout file that it requires to make it. It seems like there’s a lot of redundant or uncompressed bits in the native files that seem to contribute at least in part to the slowness of sketchup and especially layout.

Thank you! Curic Publish already lets the publisher choose which tools are available in the exported Viewer. Advanced controls can be turned off, leaving only the essentials for a simple client presentation. This means the same project can be shared as either a full collaboration experience or a clean, easy-to-use Viewer for clients.

I agree that this option could be made more obvious, perhaps with a ready-made “Client Presentation” preset.

Thank you, Richard! Curic Publish already lets authors choose the available Viewer tools. I plan to expand this with Scene selection, Scene locking, and simpler or hidden panels, making it easier to create a focused client presentation.

Thanks! Curic Publish includes tools to compress and optimize geometry and textures, while removing data that is not actually used by the published presentation. Depending on the project, this can reduce the exported file size by roughly 30% to 70% while preserving visual fidelity and Viewer functionality.

Are these components using SketchUp’s Cut Opening behavior? If so, this issue was fixed in Curic Publish 1.0.2. Please update the plugin and export the model again. If it still happens, please let me know.

Plugin doesn’t respond to my model at all. My model is about 190 KB, could that be the reason? WHAT’S THE MAXIMUM MODEL SIZE FOR YOUR PLUGIN, IS THERE A LIMIT?

190 KB is a very small model, so the file size should not be the cause. This sounds like a bug.
Could you share your SketchUp version, operating system, Curic Publish version, and describe exactly where it stops responding? Does the dialog fail to open, remain loading, or stop during export? A screenshot, Ruby Console error, or sample model would also help me investigate.

Maybe I should change the name of the model? The model has a name in Russian language just like the pdf album

Hi Murat, could you try saving a copy of the model in SketchUp 2026 format, then rename the SKP and PDF using English-only names and place them in an English-only folder path? Refresh Curic Publish, select the PDF again, and retry.

If it still fails, please send me the files privately so I can investigate. Sorry for the trouble!

I changed all the names and models and the album, but unfortunately the plugin doesn’t respond to the model

On the free version we are unable to disable the pro version tools to be excluded from export. We still get the “This feature requires Pro version” message, but it would be nice to remove that so viewers are not teased by extra features. Love this plug-in. Great Job
