Installer hanging up after saving licenses 2024 pro - fresh install

Can’t seem to get through the installer. Have had Sketchup for many years; bought a new computer and it hangs up before completion saying “The wizard was interrupted before the operation could be completed.”

  • I have disabled antivirus (windows defender)
  • I have restarted and reset for >60 seconds
  • I run the installer as administrator
  • I have tried to also install 2023 and run into the same issue.
  • I have installed sketchup many times before without any problems. (just not on this new computer)
  • I have installed other programs on the new computer without issue - only seems to be sketchup

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

Make sure the computer is fully up to date.
People mistakenly believe a new computer it ‘New and Up to date’ but the reality is the hardware you bought may have been sitting for months in a warehouse and even then was setup with an older version of Win 11.
So, update everything, and when you have done that reboot the computer and check again for updates… then check for updates for your graphic driver. Then cold reboot and check everything again.
New computers are great but you need to break them in.
And sketchup isn’t a simple program, it has needs.

Appreciate the thought - yes all drivers are up to date. I have also been using the comp for a little over a month now.

Solution:

For anyone who may run in to the same issue I had - MSI Control Center had bugged out on the chipset driver - Windows 11 automatically updates it and even after uninstalling and cleaning the MSI program off of the computer, it still starts up a process called setupchipset.exe and several .tmp files in a temp folder. Unfortunately, the only answer I could find was to re-install windows and make sure MSI control center was not installed.
