Importing kmz file

hi

i have downloaded a KMZ file from http://digimap.edina.ac.uk containing the building heights of my site. When i click on the file it tries to open in Photoshop first then fails, when i open it in google earth it masses the site it in its geographical position. but when i try to import the file into sketch up it just says “import failed”

I have also tried to uploading it into my 3Dwarehouse and downloading it straight into sketch up. it then downloads but nothing appears. I’m not sure what else i can do.

There are 2 ways a KMZ file represents geometry. The first is through a kml file and the second is through a collada (.dae) file.

Currently, SketchUp only imports KMZ files that contain collada (.dae) files as the basis of the model geometry.

To figure out what type you have, simply change the extension of your file from .kmz to .zip. and then un-zip it to review its contents. You will see a .kml file but you should also see a .dae file if it is a collada based KMZ.

I have also tried to uploading it into my 3Dwarehouse and downloading it straight into sketch up.

What is presented in the 3DWH after your upload?
