Is it possible to import a 2D dwg file of a room and also a 2D dwg file of a machine that I want to place in the room. Then convert those files to a 3D image. Essentially I’d like to be able to see in 3D what the machinery would look like in the room space….and adjust its placement if needed.
Your profile says you are using the Free Plan of SketchUp. That version doesn’t have the option to import .dwg files. You can import them with a SketchUp Go, Pro, or Studio subscription.
SketchUp won’t automatically convert a 2D CAD import into a 3D model but you can use it as a starting point for creating a 3D model.
From reading the plans I saw that Pro would be needed but wasn’t sure if what I wanted to do was feasible but it sounds like it is. I’ll be upgrading…
