FISHING PLATFORM - STL.zip (5.6 MB)
I am getting Import Failed message on this STL import. I imported a similar file from the same consultant successfully so not sure what is going on. I tried changing all the Import Options such as changing the units to metres and unticked the Merge Coplanar Faces. Any tips would be great. Deadline on Wednesday next week so slightly freaking

Where did you get the STL file from? Why is it an STL file? Can you get a different file type?
It was originally from Solidworks and exported as STL for Sketchup

Here is the .stl file in SketchUp, in what I believe to be the correct scale.

Next time ask your collaborator to export another way? Native import function failed, not sure why the .stl was over 2000’ (650M) from origin which may have been part of the problem. I was able to succeed using an import extension Universal Importer which actually converts files through a third party intermediate process. It is of course tessellated as thats part of the .stl file process, but that can be cleaned up with extensions to merge coplanar faces.
