Im going out of my comfort zone. Need Help with roof

Yes. As of right now I’m still struggling to get the front of the house to look like this

Could you send me the plans? Are they in a cad program or just sketchup? Either is fine. I would need that to be able to help you with it.

No worries,

Dee

The plan and elevation don’t match. Or am I missing something? There is no stair to the second storey?

There is no second story.

Except in the elevation. One of the things that don’t match. Ok, an insanely high living room is possible…

OP said up a few posts that he got this from another architect website but wants to make his plan all 1 floor but have it look like the PDF.

I think he should just contact the original architect and buy the plans or ask how much it would cost to modify them.

Ok, a little confusion from all the posts…

So the attached PDF’s and pictures were from a Facebook group solely of thousands of people liking the original design by [Architectural Designs]. Now from all the posts in this group, my wife and I like little bits and pieces from everyone’s design changes and modifications.

What we ended up doing was looking at the attached layout and drawing a floor plan that would accommodate our needs. The attached SKP. file is not exactly what was posted by [Architectural Designs]. We hand sketched the walls and floor plan. What we like the most from [Architectural Designs] plan and from others posted was the “Front Elevation” PDF that I attached previous.

I know well as anything else the pictures I posted previously do not match the floor plan. They were to be references for someone to help me with drawling the roof lines and 4 side elevations. The “Front Elevations” is the must have on the front of my plan. My floor plan won’t ecatly match the PFD I attached… I get that… again just a reference. The center dormer over the front porch will be vaulted to the living room (18ish feet I would assume to the center ridge), 9’ 2x6 walls on the exterior, on a basement, and NO second floor. (Ranch)

I hope this clears things up for everyone.

Ok, so to break it down you like elements of multiple designs and you like gable roofs and vaulted ceilings.
I assume you’re in a cold climate with snowload?
I also assume you have limited design experience or construction knowledge, but you want to design your own home to save money.
In my experience, there will be a lot of trial and error, and I’m not sure how anyone can help you without more concise information.
Maybe you should Google search how to prepare a design brief for a home in x country x state and x climate zone.

Write out a list of needs and wants and collect scrapbook images of homes you like. Then, get a contoured site survey and plot the building envelope in SketchUp.
At this stage, you could outsource the design in SketchUp or attempt to design it yourself.
As far as roofs go, several plugins will create roofs.

  1. Insta roof. I’m not sure if it’ll handle a roof like your image but it’ll get you a good start
  2. PlusSpec will do that roof there are plenty of tutorials on YouTube.
