I’m an interior designer so I don’t do roofs often but I’ve been trying to model this roof for hours (given to my by an architect) and I have no idea what I’m doing wrong but I can’t get my roof lines/pitches to match up. It just doesn’t work.
I rotated the front, back left and right views and I raised the top view to what seems the high point of the roof.
I also deleted the tag to which you assigned a lot of edges. The best practice is to assign a tag to groups and components to help in controlling their visibility.
Using inferences from these views shall allow you to draw that roof without too much pain.
However, you shall revise your top view since I immediately saw something wrong. See this file.
I would guess your tripping block might be that there are two different roof pitches.
I didn’t bother with the returns or overhangs but this is close. (I think)
Omg yes this is exactly how it should look. Yes it’s definitely the different pitches that is messing me up. Would you be able to explain how you did this?
It’s basically use of the rotated rectangle tool. With it you can draw a line along the eave and then set the angle to the roof pitch. ie <,6:12> The rest is just intersecting and inferencing.
I’m not sure if I can record a gif or not, I’ve had trouble with capturing that tool. I’ll see what I can do.
Keep in mind that I used the RR tool and line tool almost exclusively. You may have to ignore the lines on the plan view as there seems to be some errors. (Perhaps what Jean pointed out)
I only used the perimeter. Keep in mind I could be wrong too, it’s hard to say without a proper plan view.
I’m a bit busy today I may take another look tonight.
@hyggelystudio, “Solution” is meant to be given to the person who gave you the best/most helpful answer. Only you can “award” him/her.
That would be @Shep, i guess.
