I have imported a Cad file to Sketchup 2016 and it is not allowing me to move an object to the new layer (2nd layer.) I have When I create the second layer it is not showing in Entity Info box. It is grayed out. Any help? Thank you
Could you upload the SKP file so we can see what you’ve got going on?
Maybe the ketchup expired ?

It’s a bit difficult to understand what you are saying.
Are you saying that you cannot create a second (new) layer?
Are you saying the layer that you want to move to is grayed out?
Are you saying that the layer you created does not list in Entity info?
You might have set the current layer set to another layer that is not layer0.
Because you have brought in a CAD files, most likely the raw geometries such as lines and some faces belong the layers as supposed the whole group of CAD file that has been imported.
If you have the layer turned off, the name on the list will be grayed out, but you can still move entities to it.
perhaps you can describe your problem a bit better or include sketchup file as @DaveR said?
