I can no longer move components vertically in sketchup. I can only move my components horizontal. Could somebody help me pleas!!
If you right-click on the component, is “unglue” grey or dark? I am guessing your component is glued to a surface. If “unglue” is dark, select it.
Hi Nicky,
Notice the Glue To Properties when creating components.
Later on you can edit component properties via Components Browser > In Model > Edit

Many thanks for the quick response! I didn’t know this function, with what intentions would/could you use this feature?

The glue feature for components is useful for items like windows and chairs. If the user moves a wall with glued windows, the windows will move with it. If the user elevates a floor with glued chairs, the chairs elevate with the floor.

The purpose of component properties is to create components with behaviors that are supportive of the object’s use.
For example:
You want a window component to align to any vertical face and automatically cut a hole in the face.
While a 2D component, say, a tree, you want to always face the camera.
Component properties such as Glue to, Cut opening and Always face camera are used to make your component behave in the desired manner.

Thank you for your answer… It was short and clear… I was going crazy try to move an object UP/DOWN without success…Now everything is rolling smooth…Thanks.
For future reference, while it is much appreciated when you acknowledge good posts, actually replying can get lost or be impossible. Quite often posts are locked and you can’t reply, 5 years is rather long to find an open one, 6 months is more common, although we have been trying to get rid of the lock altogether.
Look at the bottom of the relevant post for a little heart symbol and click that, this will pop up on the users interface if they are still active and let them know you learnt something from them.
