I need to draw a detail on a kitchen island. The semi circles at the base that follow the arc shape are on angles and I can’t push pull them to meet the top semi circles. If I push pull the top semi circles down, they work, however they can’t go past a certain point because of the angled semi circles at the bottom, which leaves an open gap. Any help would be greatly apprecited. KITCHEN_ISLAND_DETAIL.skp (325.8 KB)
You can upload the file. Use the icon that shows an arrow coming out of a rectangle. Meanwhile, you might try pressing option (Mac) or Control (PC) while using Push/Pull to move the semicircles farther down. A plugin called Joint Push/Pull from Fredo6 (available on the Plugin Store at SketchUcation.com might also help.
Hi David, thanks for your reply. I’ve managed to upload my file. I go to Sketchucation to find the Joint Push Pull plugin, but can’t locate it. Also the Fredo6 says don’t install for versions after 2017.
You can use Fredo6 Joint Push/Pull like this
or you can use basic tools/tehniques
In SketchUp Pro you could use Solid Tools to make that trim.
In SketchUcation, search for Fredo6 in the plugin store. When Fredo6 comes up, click on the More Info button. You have to download something called LibFredo as well as the specific plugin. They work on SU 2017 and later (or 2017+).
Thanks so much for that. I really appreciate it. You’re a life saver I’d like to use the Fredo6_Joint Push Pull plugin, but it seems it’s not available on Sketchucation anymore. Any ideas? Another question, if you look at my sketch drawing I need to continue the arc along the sides, but I"m finding it hard to create a stretched out arc along the side. Hope this helps…
Thank you so much for your time and for your efforts to help me out! I truly appreciate it. You are an absolute legend!!! Just one more question, after you copied the arc to the side and drew the line on the green axis, how did you create the angled rectangle?
Many thanks for your help
Looks like you’re all sorted out but I thought I’d give it a try. This is done with no extensions at all. Just native tools. With the proper setup it’s actually pretty straightforward.
Out of curiosity, what are the ribs made of?
Hi Dave, my apologies for my delayed response. I’m not exactly sure yet about what the material will be for the curved detailing. The detail has now changed on the side panels (as well as the door fronts) The curve at the front will be dipped lower and will continue as a staggered curve (not as it has been shown in the above videos) along the side panel as it inclines and tapers off behind the curvedend at the top. Sorry if this doesn’t make sense. I may have to ask for your help when I come back to this if I run into issues creating this. Thanks very much for your help
