How to position Match Photo image

This is nothing to do with the use of the image within the Match Photo dialogue, this is regarding the position of the image itself.

I use templates pre-populated with product models outside of a large ‘working’ area, and when I click the + symbol to add an image, the resulting image always appears in different orientations within SU. Sometimes the models are behind the camera, sometimes to the sides or sometimes right in front, meaning I have to move them all out of the way.

There doesn’t seem to be any rhyme, reason or consistency as to how the image is placed.

I assume it is something to do with an axis setting, but I can’t figure out how to set the position on insertion or afterwards.

Can anyone help?

Yes. You set the location of the image relative to the origin and axes in the setup immediately after importing the image.

I would suggest that you import the Match Photo image into a blank SketchUp file and do the setup process. Then copy the product models into the file with the image.

Sorry DaveR, I don’t know what you mean by your first point. How do I set the location?

It would also be a real pain to copy in all the components, tags and colours etc for every new document. Not impossible, but a pain nevertheless.

Scratch that question, I’ve figured it. I’d never noticed the rotate left/right commands in the context menu. I can now rotate the image to where I need it to be.

Thanks for that. :+1:
