How to paint consistent pattern over mesh?

Hi everyone,

I have a backyard patio with a flagstone texture, but as it winds around the deck, the elevation increases gradually to about a 2’ difference. I used the SoapBubble plugin to create a mesh for the paved path and and created the slope I needed with Sandbox tools. But now when I go to paint it with the flagstone material, the projected image is fragmented with all the mesh geometry. Is there a workaround for this? Or some other way I can model that flagstone path with the changing elevation?

Thanks in advance for any help! Hopefully the image I’m attaching comes through.

Firstly, don’t paint the group/component, you must edit and actually paint the face.
Then make sure you are using a projected material. Easily done as you see in the gif.
Turn on hidden geometry, right click on a single face and choose texture/projected. Then sample that specific face with the eye dropper, turn off hidden geometry and paint the whole thing.

Thank you for demonstrating! I followed the steps and the material looks fine on the flat parts but when the mesh starts bending, the material is still not oriented right. Is there anything else I can do without having to go in each triangle and change the position?

You could look at Fredo’s Thru Paint for a more advanced solution.

How’s the mesh of the floor? Can you share the file? It’s possible to map it well using plug-ins.
