How to make a concave and convex chamfered edge meet?

Steve thank you for your help. It is a lot to me.
I thought I will make this little diagram as it is probably unclear what I don’t know. I have attached the sketchup file as well.

Ah, yes, I see what you mean. Fredo6’s round corner wants to go between adjacent real faces, it does not understand the idea of the asymmetrical half-chamfer as if the other rail was still there. Here’s one way that you could handle this (there might be better ones but this will at least work). It may be confusing - If you can’t follow let me know and I’ll make a gif animation later when I have more time.

  • before running round corner on the rail part, add a small temporary right-angle part to the corner to form the full 90-degrees, as if a small chunk of the adjacent rail was still there. Don’t extend it the full length of the mitered side, as you will need to get to that side later.
  • now run round corner including the top, new 90 degree corner, and bottom edges (Dave method). If round corner complains about too many faces at the new corner, you may have to temporarily erase the mitered side face where it meets that corner.
  • extend the mitered side face out past the (now rounded) corner to create a cutting plane
  • use intersect faces to cut the full chamfer at its middle
  • erase the portion that extends past the miter face and generally clean up any geometry that’s no longer needed
  • if this destroyed one of the other faces (e.g. the top or mitered face) you will have to retrace an edge to get SketchUp to regenerate the face.

Fredo’s new round corner tool has a lot more options, including assymetrical as far as I remember?
