How to import material collections

Hello, I’m a new user, and I can’t figure out something that should be simple: How to import 3D Warehouse material collections. It imports the tiled texture grid, but I don’t know how to:

  1. Add all materials on the grid to my library.
  2. Add them individually if I don’t need all of them.
  3. Copy them to an asset manager [I’m using Connecter].

I have watched several youtube videos on this subject, but haven’t found an explanation. I am now fully aware of what every aspect of PBR maps are for, but not how to get actual materials into the actual SketchUp library where I can actually use them. Any help would be appreciated, or a link to a tutorial. Thanks!

When you are looking at any model there is a Material Count entry. Click on those words, and a panel will open on the right of the page. You can download the individual materials you want from the model.

If you do import the model itself, all of the individual materials should be added to the In Model set of materials in the Materials tray.

Oh, I see it now when I select In Model, thank you! How should I get them into Connecter asset manager, if you happen to know? Also, if I want to make a rug out an image, what’s the best way to start with a carpet texture and overlay the image? Sorry, that’s a lot of questions; please let me know if there are tutorials which explain all that stuff.

I don’t know connector asset manager. I did find this page, which may help:

If you are using SketchUp 2025, and have Face Style set to Photoreal Materials, you could try materials like this one:

Or, if you have an existing rug image you can choose it in the Materials tray, and click this icon:

That will then create the extra texture maps to make the rug look more photorealistic.
