How to gray out an object

I’m modeling a floor plan from an inserted file. I have it exploded, made into a group, and resized. Now I need to trace the walls with the line tool. It would make it so much easier if I could get the inserted image to fade so I can see the lines as I draw them or somehow make the lines I draw stand out more. Any suggestions?

In the free web version you can select an Xray style from the Default styles. That will gray out the image. Alternatively you can edit the image in an imaged editor before you insert it into Sketchup.
