How do I change default text style/size for dimension tool in Layout? I know how to take the measurement and then change the text style manually-- but I’m looking for a way to make the font and size a default so I don’t have to change it for every dimension.
Select the Dimension tool and edit the Font size and other properties before you start placing dimensions. If you are going to use the same settings for eery project, make yourself a custom template with the text set the way you want it to show. Then you won’t have to do this every time you start a new file.

You’re welcome. Note that this same idea works for Labels, Text boxes and any of the LayOut drawing tools as well.

I must be missing something. I edit the dimension settings to what I want, it adjusts that specific dimensions style. But the moment I go to use the dimension tool again, it reverts back to the previous style. I’ve made a template. But I’m experiencing the same behavior.
I would LOVE to use the dimensions placed in sketch itself. But the font sizes become HUGE when bringing a sketchup model into layout. So I’m hoping to get the dimensions in Layout to work.

You need to make the settings with the Dimension tool selected. Or, after editing the selected dimension, get the Dimension tool, tap S, sample the edited dimension, proceed with adding more dimensions.
This shows editing the dimension and then setting the Dimension tool to make subsequent dimensions match.
If you select the Dimension tool and make the desired settings in Dimension Style and Text Style and then save your template the settings will be there when you start a new project using the template.
