Would like to ask if I want to arrange my each material by using tag, is it possible to make it? Means if i close the “concrete” tag, then all of my concrete paint faces will hide.
There is no inherent connection between material names and tag names. But you can create tags with names to match material names, apply the tags to objects painted with that material and then if you turn off the tag all those objects will be invisible. I don’t know if one exists, but it seems like an extension could be written to automate the tag creation and attachment.
Cause actually Im working as Sketchup to 3Dsmax corona, usually 3Dsmax need to attach all the same material to edit the material thingy, but usually it takes time to arrange so I was wonder is there any way or plugin to group by material or create tag by selecting all the same material?
Is your forum profile correct? It says you are using SketchUp for schools, which is a web browser hosted version that cannot run plugins in any case. It’s important to fill your profile correctly because it affects the answers to your questions!
Yes, you make your model like you would build it in the real world. Foundations are concrete and get a concrete material. Timber is wood and get a wood material. Windows have glass and wood - each part (group or components) have their own materials applied.
Tags control visibility. If you want to turn off all concrete or all wood you can certainly make tags that work like that.
What if I am the one who take over others people’s work but they didn’t arrange the tags like that? Got other way to group or tag the materials if different materials are in the group?
Ohh i already changed it back, thanks!
Normally, you arrange your model correctly from the beginning, as already indicated, but in some cases, you can assign a tag to a specific material (not indicated).
How to select a material in all nested groups and apply a tag to the faces with that material, using V-Ray for SketchUp extension.
Thanks for the solution! But except for this, do we have any extension or other way to do it? cause im not using Vray and i think i wont buy it just for this
It’s possible that this extension could be used for this, but I’ll test it sometime in the future.
Maybe @JustinTSE has already tested or can test and confirm this possibility.
HA - I forgot I even made this video, so I can’t confirm or deny.
For me though, if tying tags and materials together was this big of a deal, I’d probably use use the color by tag function and load materials in that way.
