I have investigated this a little bit on my own time, as I’d also really like to pinch to zoom and use two fingers for panning LayOut documents.
There’s a problem that I didn’t spend a lot of time on with making this change; I can’t tell if you’re using a trackpad/magic mouse or a three-button mouse with a scroll wheel. What ends up happening in that case is that I am no longer able to zoom in or out with a scroll wheel - it will only pan the document. This is because I get the same message sent to me from the operating system for a two finger pan on a touchpad as I get for a scrolling on a three-button mouse.
As I said, I did not spend much time on this, and there may be a solution I didn’t come up with (a preference setting? Holding an extra key to show intent? Something else?), but for now both LayOut and SketchUp operate with the assumption that the user is using a three-button mouse.
Thanks for letting me know that there are users out there that also feel that we should support zoom pinch for LayOut.
