there are extra lines in Layout I want to get rid of.
Edit the style in Sketchup and untick Extension. Update the style and save and refresh the Layout connection.
Thanks a lot! I was wondering trough Document setup, playing with line weight looking trough the forums without avail. This is great. Why even is there an option to extend lines??
Thanks, and thanks again. This improves my drawings greatly.
It’s a feature that has been around for years. Some people like it as an option to add a little character to the images they create from their models. You can also display endpoints. It’s similar to the variety of sketchy styles.
At some point someone must have turned on the extensions in the style for them to show. Or you chose a style with endpoints enabled. None of the supplied default materials have extensions turned on.
SketchUp has always liked to emulate hand-drawn drawings. Lines crossing at corners was a very common drawing convention in the pre-CAD days. Especially when the primitive ruling pen was used, ending lines exactly at corners was difficult and letting them cross looked better than leaving them too short.
Long time SketchUp feature.
