I need to convert my SU model to a CAD drawing to basically merge it with an existing floor plan built in CAD, preserving all tags/objects, so that a final CAD file can be submitted to fire code permitting.
Does it make sense to export my SU file as a DWG to then drop into a CAD program to finalize this?
Or can this be done by importing the floor plans into my SU model, then exporting the file as a DWG?
You can export a DWG or DXF file from SketchUp Pro. Or you can import a DWG or DXF into SketchUp. As to what makes sense, it depends a great deal on you and your skills with both SketchUp and AutoCAD.
Do you really have to have a file from AutoCAD for fire code permitting?
Thanks for the suggestion. The problem is that I need to maintain the original CAD file’s metadata, tags, etc. and when you import a DWG into SU you lose all of that info.
