Any copyright issues using the ‘Danish bricks’ Images?
nope. and if they suddenly decided to hammer on people 3d printing, they would start with the websites hosting pretty much all the different bricks ready to print, and then all the custom stuff (actual minifigs with commercial logos…), and then maybe little poor me, making one for his niece.
and they would probably ruin their image at the same time. I guess people printing 5:1 scale minifigs are also big lego fans and customers.
It falls into the grey fan-art area where stuff is tolerated.
now if tomorrow lego decided to sell their own decorative big scale minifigs, that could be something. but until then, I’m not too worried.
disney sells official lightsabers. will disney sue you if you build your own ? no.
To store my filament, I got some plastic bins. They fit in a kallax, they can be closed tight. not 100% airtight but tight enough (plus, dessicant in there does the job).
Each bin can store 6 1kg spool.
problem is, how to see what filament is in what bin ?
Also, how can I know what colours I have at hand ?
This. a 2 part solution.
on one hand, hexagon tiles that can be linked thanks to loops.
the middle is thinner, about 1mm, I wanted to be able to see how opaque each material can be.
the other part is a rack that can accept up to 6 swatches.
each swatch has a small label (material, brand, designation) and can simply be moved from one bin to another. or simply removed if need be.
the idea is, every new spool I get, I print both (about 20g) and off I go.
plus… hexagons. Have I told you I like hexagons ?
OMG that infamous bowl.. soooo much memories there. We used to travel all the way up from South Italy to Marsiglia to ride it.
Killer skatepark. Hands down the absolutely best of the very best bowl for BMX bikes I ever tried.
If you mind to share the original obj with textures, I could try to retopologize it into a clean low poly and maybe unwrap and bake the textures into a SketchUp manageable file.
knock yourself up, both scans, the 3dwarehouse (tony hawks pro skater 2) old version
Speaking of scans and the Swiss:

Hi resolution lidar scans of the entire country…
same in france
most of it at least
I remember someone posting that (you, maybe?).
Honestly a little scary having this data publicly available considering the current geopolitical situation…
The scary thing is that apparently the public data is just the tip of the iceberg. I don’t think it would be published if it was considered to be essential to the people you infer about.
Yeah, for sure the stuff we don’t see that likely gets stolen behind the scenes is a whole other matter.
At my 2012 graduate school (architecture) reunion, my thesis advisor, Steve Kieran, was there to present his firm’s new design for the American embassy in London. It’s basically a cube and looks a bit like a Borg ship from Star Trek. When one of the alumni asked why he didn’t do something more with the roof, he replied, “It turns out there’s a whole lot that happens on the roof of a US embassy that you’re not allowed to know about.” - that stuck with me ever since.
Yeah, we had to get our kids’ passports updated here in Switzerland - both parents need to come with all the documents to Bern for the US Embassy. It was easy to find - razor wire, guards, concrete barriers.
You can’t come in with any electronics. No smart watches, no phones, no laptops, even an old school digital Casio watch like I had in 4th grade isn’t allowed. Phones have to be off, etc. And it all goes through airport style X-ray. Everything except your documents stay in a cubby at the security checkpoint.
Blame it on google. They should sell to trimble.
Of course I wasn’t blaming you.
You did an excellent job and your technique is really clever.
I fear it’s a limitation of the workflow itself.
I think that the texture problem is due to the fact that the whole thing is scanned “twice”.
I mean.. you scanned a scan on a screen (which by itself has limited resolution) and this add compression on top of existing compression.
Same goes for distortion.
I’m thinking to use the existing texture as a base for texturing in Substance and add a bit of detail on top, maybe with some “SketchUp” graffiti.
I believe that is true to the spirit of that bowl.. you know, they constantly change the base painting and also add new graffiti on top of each other.
I think is completely fine if we do our version of the livery.
Hi there..
I want to give you credits for the original photoscan when I’ll publish the final model.
If I publish it on Facebook or other websites you’d like to be mentioned as “Atelier Nab” or with your real name?
Haha atelier nab or monsieur nab is fine
Ok. Stay tuned.
I’m planning to add some “Ai generated graffiti” in the texture
Here you can see a couple of test.
Let me know if you want one.. or maybe you wanna create yourself one that you like (I’m using Krea AI)
