Dear all SKP experts,
I have been looking to draw this white table lamp shape for a while, haven’t found the solution. But if anyone knows how, could you please share with us? much appreciate!!
Thank you
the white part I assume ? (the green one is a simple follow me)
I would have a look on the side of Curviloft, an extension by Fredo6. with it you can draw the profiles at different point, and it will create the surface.
you might also consider the standard solid tools, start by a half-sphere (solid, just a big block), then use other shapes to dig into it. the grooves looks almost vertical.
let me end breaky and I’ll mockup something.
Thank you so much! This looks like the best solution — I’ll give it a try now.
Really appreciate it!
Thank you for the instructions!
I’ll give this method a try as well.
so this kinda works. it’s not super clean and beautiful, but then you can soften lines, and if you use cylindres with more sides, you’ll get a cleaner result.
if your lamp is just here part of the global decor, it can be fine.
second idea is with curviloft. it’s a quick test, with proper dimensions and better curves, plus some fiddling with the curviloft controls, I would certainly get a better result.
Awesome ideas~~ many solutions, thank you!
Yeah man, subdivision is the only proper way to model that kind of shapes.
But, to be honest, I’d recommended as the very first step to observe tha ACTUAL shape of the thing, then try to throw in some half-decent topology using control loops and stuff..
It will definitely work better
This is the basic idea of the topology required for that shape.
If you start from a more dense sphere, it will retain the shape even better with less deformation.
But maybe this quick example is easier to understand if you are a beginner.
