Help to create these stairs please?

I would like to find out what the best way to create something similar stairs as in the image attached? A client sent this as an inspo image, but stuck with how to create their stairs to resemble the flow? I used Shape Bender but it started producing strange results. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciate. I’ve also attached a SketchUp file with the footprint of the stairs. Many thanks

lots of ways to do it.

Google is your friend: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=sketchup+spiral+staircase

For the flow (with Fredo Tools > CurviShear / Divide Edges and Fredo JPP)

but your stair looks weird at those points, plus the 25 cm width is a bit small.

Hi Emma,

Thanks very much for your reply. I always find these type of stairs challenging with these extra organic turns. I appreciate your explanation and know which tools you are referring to, but not exactly following the process in using them. I have attached the SketchUp file for your reference. Your assistance is really appreciated. Thank you.

Thank you very much for the tools and for building the stairs. I’ll have to see what Youtube clips there are, as not sure how to use the CurviShear Tool in this instance. I have used it for ramps, but not stairs.

It’s a ramp

But what you need to do first is create a good layout for the staircase.

Thank you for the clarification.

Pretty sure @emmarose does not know how to model that stair and was posting an AI generated answer from the web.

Other users will come along shortly and hopefully offer more helpful responses.

Thank you. I guess with AI it changes how people are responding to posts here?

Did you use the arrow keys to manipulate the green preview before committing?

I did and it didn’t look anything like I wanted it to.

Hi Mihai,

Thank you for the video. Makes sense and is appreciated. With regards to the stair border, I tried using the Curviloft - Loft Along Path using the same profile you used, but when I move the result to the stairs, the stairs aren’t sitting flush and it is also smaller than the width? Not sure if I had to do something different? My apologies for perhaps asking something that may be obvious. I have tried also Upright Extruder but it doesn’t extrude along the whole path. Your stair border also appears to have a cut in. What am I missing? Thank you for your help and patience

I used Adebeo PushLine and Fredo JPP

Thanks so much. Never heard of the Adebeo plugIn. I’ll have to check it out. I learnt a lot from your videos and explanations. Many thanks again.

Hi Mihai,

Could you please tell me what the name of this plugin is? Thanks very much.

I think you’ll find that is Select Curve by Thomthom, released about 15 years ago.
