I need help with a curve staircase

Hi everyone,

I’m still a beginner when it comes to modeling curved stairs, and I was wondering if someone could help me with this. I’ve been assigned a task at work to create a staircase with a design similar to the one in the attached image.

I’m struggling with how to model the curves on the sides (green lines), the embedded/recessed concrete (blue lines), and the handrail (orange line) (see attached image for reference). If anyone has a tutorial video or a step-by-step guide that I can follow, or any tips you can share, I would really appreciate it!

I’ve also attached the skp file in case it helps. Thank you so much for your time and assistance!

You can try with Eneroth Upright Extruder extension. Probably with Flowify, too.

Woah! That’s super helpful! Is this the Eneroth Upright Extruder extension?

Would it be possible for you to share the profile/geometry you used along with the curve line it follows? If you don’t mind, I’d really appreciate it!

It makes little sense, it’s better to show you how and you to draw it yourself.

I drew starting from a rectangle and using Line, and it looked a bit like what was in the picture, but for what you want, it’s better to create it by drawing over the picture.

Thank you for this tutorial! I really appreciate the guidance. I’ll try drawing over the picture as you suggested and attempt to recreate it. Would it be okay to ask if I have any follow-up questions? I’ll also make sure to follow the videos you shared here.

That way you will learn little by little.
That’s what the forum is for, ask and someone who knows will answer you.

You’re welcome!

Thank you! I really appreciate it. I’ll keep learning little by little. It’s great to have such a helpful community here!

Hey @mihai.s I tried following your video guide, but this is what happens when I attempt to extrude upright using the Eneroth extension.

The path probably doesn’t have a uniform slope in that area. Is the profile positioned in the middle of the path?

I think yes but let me try it again

Yup, it’s still the same @mihai.s Something seems to be happening with the curve path.

You’re the only one who knows what that curved path looks like.

There were some adjustments to the number of steps, bringing the total to 24. The straight part was also adjusted to 1600mm instead of 1700mm. Do you think this might be the reason?

When I followed the video tutorial, the part where you create a circle for Curvishear with a 55cm radius wasn’t working for me—it wouldn’t connect from the step above to the step below. So, I tried connecting it by adding a straight line instead.

In this part of the video, may I ask how you determined that a 55cm radius is the right dimension/size for the circle you’re using? I’ve been trying to adjust it between 56–60cm, but unfortunately, it still won’t connect.

I selected the arc.

I’m really sorry for asking so many questions, and I truly appreciate your patience. Thank you for this guide! I’ll give it another try.

The only part I have left is the circular curve in the handrail. Should I just apply a circle here and cut it?

Probably with Arc tool (a few).

Thank you again! I appreciate it :bowing_man:t2:

After lots of trial and error, I finally did it! It’s not perfect yet, but I think it’s pretty close to the reference. Huge thanks again, @mihai.s for your guidance and for patiently answering my questions—I really appreciate it!
