Hey, I’m a high school student starting to learn SketchUp, and I’m working on redesigning my living room as a practice project as my parents plan to renovate it. I need some help from a professional to enhance the design, particularly with lighting (I use V-ray) and any other improvements you think would be valuable to make it look better. Thank you in advance for your support.
SketchUp only has very simplistic shading, with either the camera location or the sun as the light source. You will need to use a real renderer if you want to see interior lighting effects from lamps, etc. Also if you want renderings that are more photorealistic.
You can find many kinds of decorative elements (“entourage”) in the 3D Warehouse, but always download them into a separate model and examine them for excessive detail before putting them into your main model. There are many hyper-detailed models in the 3DW that can rapidly bloat your model and make it hard to work with.
