I’m inexperienced with sketch-up. Pretty newb. I’m trying to make an angled staircase and am wondering how to draw the steps equally around this unique corner. Not sure if relevant to getting help but the drop from the upper level is 3ft. Aiming for 5 6’’ risers. Greatly appreciate any guidance.
Can you share the file? I can’t see much on that image but there are an always at least couple solutions to model complex objects.
new design.skp (223.7 KB) thanks
ended up dividing up the space on both ends of the stairs, marking the roughly equal spacing and drawing connecting lines across. Not sure if this is the best/most efficient way to do this but It’s what we ended up with for now.
also switched from 3 ft drop in floor level to 2ft 6 inches
Before continuing the project, go to Campus - learn.sketchup.com and learn the basics - components, groups, tags, etc. It will make your work easier in the future and you will avoid a lot of problems generated by ungrouped raw geometry. Create and group the building elements as they are in reality: walls, floor, doors, windows, etc…
so, in general, at least over here, this is how we do :
let’s say I want a 30cm run. so every step is 30cm deep. on normal steps, it’s easy to measure. but in corners / curved steps ? where to measure ?
well here we measure the 30cm width at about 60cm of the inner side. off course, if the stair is narrow, we measure in the middle. the 60cm is good for stairs that are more than 1,2m wide.
stairs are complex. and not just in sketchup. there are a lot of rules and concepts that you need to work with if you want your stair to be and feel right.
What is the angle here?
