Probably a stupid question, but is there a way to ungroup elements in SketchUp? i have a group and want to cut a hole in it…
Ungroup is called “explode” n SketchUp, and is available in the right-click context menu when a group is under the cursor.
However, it should only rarely be necessary to explode a group. For the kind of action you seek, you open the group for edit by double-clicking on it and then operate on the contents without exploding it.
You can cut a hole in a group without ungrouping it. You double click on the group and edit it. Look at the free SketchUp lessons, and it will guide you through it.
Thank you. i will try exploding it since there are not many elements in my model yet. I know - not a good habit to fall into.
Thanks. I will give it a try!
Why don’t you try the GOOD habit of just opening the group for editing instead?
But that’s ignoring the better way I recommended! The complexity of the model has little relevance to doing it the better way.
After seeing the response from Royce, that is what i will do.
